To strengthen the academic environment, establish a high-level platform for scholarly exchange, and support the development of innovative talent in mechanical engineering, the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering at Shanghai University of Engineering Science held an academic seminar on November 15, 2025. The event took place at 9:00 a.m. in Room 8B604 on the Songjiang Campus. The seminar featured a keynote speech by Dr. Cui Hailong, a researcher at the Institute of Mechanical Manufacturing Technology of the China Academy of Engineering Physics and Director of the Editorial Office of the journal Extreme Manufacturing. Also in attendance were Vice Dean Wang Dazhong, faculty representatives, and graduate students.

Amid warm applause, Dr. Cui delivered an insightful lecture titled “Introduction to the Journal Extreme Manufacturing and Sharing of Submission Experience.” He provided a systematic overview of the journal’s founding background, international standing, core characteristics, and key research themes. Dr. Cui also elaborated on the high-quality services it offers to authors, including diamond open access and global promotion.Drawing on his dual role as an editorial board member and senior researcher, Dr. Cui shared practical techniques and advice for avoiding common pitfalls throughout the process of producing a high-quality academic paper—from topic selection and conceptualization to writing, submission, revision, and final acceptance. His presentation was both clear and informative, offering valuable guidance to students for their future academic writing and publication efforts.

During the Q&A session that followed, faculty and students actively engaged with Dr. Cui, discussing topics such as demonstrating innovation in research papers, strategies for responding to reviewer comments, and selecting promising research directions. The lively discussion sparked a fruitful exchange of ideas.

In his closing remarks, Vice Dean Wang Dazhong noted that the seminar served not only as a targeted guide to journal submission, but also as an inspiring session on scientific thinking and academic standards, which will undoubtedly illuminate students’ academic research paths. The success of this seminar reflects the School’s ongoing commitment to advancing disciplinary development and improving the quality of postgraduate education. Moving forward, the School will continue to invite renowned experts and scholars to organize high-level academic events, offering teachers and students a broader platform for exchange and further elevating the School’s research and innovation capabilities.
