On April 13, 2025, the Mechanical Product 3D Design Labor and Skills Competition was successfully held in Classroom A503. The event was jointly organized by the General Labor Union of the Songjiang Economic Development Zone and the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering at Shanghai University of Engineering Science. A total of 46 skilled contestants from 23 companies competed head-to-head in the contest.

Before the competition began, the organizers invited Xia Chaowen, a faculty member from the school, to conduct a pre-competition training session for the participants. The training aimed to equip contestants with essential skills, covering software operation, interface layout, and functional modules. Through case demonstrations and hands-on guidance, participants also enhanced their problem-solving abilities.During the competition, contestants were required to complete two main tasks: modeling and assembly, within a limited time. In the first module, they had to create a 3D model based on schematic, part, and assembly drawings, assemble the components into a complete model, and generate a 3D exploded view. The second module involved creating a 3D model from drawings of box or shell parts and producing corresponding part drawings.

As a key technology in the manufacturing industry, 3D design of mechanical products plays a vital role in improving product quality, reducing costs, and shortening development cycles. This competition provided an excellent platform for employees in the park to showcase their skills and engage in mutual learning. It also fostered a technology-driven and skill-oriented atmosphere, further promoting the deep integration of industry, academia, and research.
